Jim has over 30 years of business experience in the energy, utilities and aviation sectors. He is an experienced non-executive director, currently serving as Senior Independent Director at the Low Carbon Contracts Company and as Chairman of the Harwich Haven Authority.

Jim has previously worked for the Civil Aviation Authority and was its Deputy Chairman from 2007 to 2008. He has also been a non-executive member of the Gas and Electricity Market Authority (GEMA) since 2009. Jim has proven experience of working in privatised industries, along with a strong understanding of codes and settlement systems.

Adam is an expert in industry code governance and market design, with almost 20 years’ experience working in the energy sector. Adam joined MOSL from Elexon where, most recently, he worked on the outcome of the Competition and Markets Authority’s energy market investigation.

As Market Design Director, Adam supports the establishment of the enduring Code Panel and changes to codes. He also assumes responsibility for regulatory affairs and water operations, as well as leading MOSL’s liaison with Defra and Ofwat.

Mike is Market Liaison Lead at Water Plus. He has over 30 years of experience, including 10 years in the water sector and previously worked in the energy industry where he was actively involved in electricity and gas deregulation from its implementation in 1990. He has been a member of the Panel since the beginning of the Non Household competitive market and before this was a member of the Interim Codes Panel. He also has experience in the Scottish Market where he served for three years as an elected Director on the Board of the CMA, regularly attending the Technical Panel and various working groups in Scotland.

Trevor is the Regulation and Compliance Manager at Business Stream, and has been working in the retailing of water services for over twelve years. He has been a Panel member since market opening and prior to this was on the Interim Codes Panel. He sits on the Market Performance Committee and attends the User Forum. He was also closely involved in the development of Scottish framework documents and has been involved in both the CMA and WICS market audits in Scotland.

Nicola is the Chief Commercial Officer for Clear Business Water and has 23 years of new entrant business retail experience in Energy, Telecoms, Water and Insurance. She recently developed and implemented the company commercial strategy for both the Scottish and English non-household water retail markets, alongside leading internal preparations for market opening and development. Nicola has been a Panel member since market opening and worked with market participants on the creation of the codes as a member of the Interim Codes Panel and DEFRA Independent Assurance Group for NHH market opening.

Previously he has extensive energy market experience leading a retail business. He was instrumental in opening the non-household retail market and has been a wholesale representative on the Panel since market opening.

Helyn is an intellectual property barrister specialising in a broad range of matters, including EU and UK trade marks, passing off, designs, copyright, breach of confidence and contract cases.

The majority of her eighteen years in practice has been spent in chambers at the independent Bar of England & Wales, although she has also spent periods as external evidence counsel for the Serious Fraud Office and as a senior IP litigation lawyer at the international law firm, Pinsent Masons LLP.

Helyn is currently the Head of IP at 33 Bedford Row chambers, advising clients from diverse sectors on pre-clearance, IP protection and exploitation, litigation and dispute resolution.

During Nigel’s 30-year gas career he developed many of the core rules and processes in the GB network code that enabled full domestic competition. Within Transco he had responsibility for managing the evolution of the gas commercial framework and operational responsibility for managing the daily balancing and capacity regimes.

In 2008 Nigel moved to Brussels to create the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG). He subsequently lead ENTSOG’s code development and specifically the European Gas Balancing Code. Since 2014 he has provided consultancy and training support to an extensive range of gas industry players in GB, UK, mainland Europe, Asia, South America and Australia.

Elsa has nearly 20 years experience of working in the energy sector in a variety of commercial, operational and consultancy roles. She began her career at British Gas Transco, later National Grid Gas, before moving to Statoil where she led Regulatory and Strategy Teams as well as IT and Business Projects.

Elsa has experience of all aspects of the gas supply chain including charging arrangements, shipping, trading and retail contracts. In recent years, Elsa has worked as a consultant providing regulatory, policy and commercial advice to a range of players in the Gas and Electricity Markets.

She has an extensive understanding of the challenges associated with the design, opening and development of markets, worked as a Gas Code panel member and has participated in numerous committees and working groups in the gas and electricity sectors. Prior to joining the Enduring Panel, she sat on the Interim Codes Panel as an Independent member.

Christina is a Policy Manager at the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) with more than 13 years’ experience in the water sector. She joined the water watchdog in 2009 to influence the development of the non-household retail market and ensure it meets the needs of business customers.

Christina now monitors how the market is developing by liaising with market participants, retailers and wholesalers, as well analysing customer complaints data and CCWater’s own research into business customers’ views and preferences. She uses this to inform discussions at the industry Market Codes Panel, which she sits on as an affiliate member.

Prior to joining the consumer body, Christina worked for Severn Trent Water and Ofwat. She was part of the industry regulator’s Competition Team that helped to oversee the smooth introduction of the first stage of retail competition in the water sector in 2005.

Dan has over thirteen years’ experience in various roles at the water sector’s economic regulator, Ofwat and is an experienced regulatory and competition policy professional. As part of the Programme delivering the business retail market, his focus was on developing key parts of the market architecture, in particular relating to customer protection and licensing.

Dan worked on the 2014 Price Review, led the development of Ofwat’s policy on the New Appointments and Variations regime and was Ofwat’s Board Secretary between 2012 and 2014. Dan is now Ofwat’s primary lead on the suite of market codes, and is an affiliate member of the industry Codes Panel.

Chris is a Chartered Management Accountant, with fifteen years of experience across the UK water industry. As Head of Finance and Commercial for Affinity for Business he leads the finance, bid and insight functions, along with responsibility for regulatory and market processes. Prior to joining Affinity for Business, he led a series of workstreams to support the Affinity Water group’s preparations for the new market. Chris also represented the wider industry as a Non-Executive Director of UK Water Industry Research. Chris joined the Panel in 2019.

Claire is a Company Director of Waterscan and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Claire is recognised as a leading expert in water conservation and cost control and is passionate about reducing businesses water footprint and environmental impact. Trained in all aspects of water management and worked in the field before undertaking a managerial role. Claire joined the Panel in 2019 and is also a member of the Market Performance Committee.

Martin is a Mechanical Engineer by training with extensive experience in the RAF prior to joining Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) in 1992. He has held a range of senior positions including both front-line operational and technical roles in a variety of different disciplines. He has significant commercial experience and has been involved in Water Services related tenders and projects across the globe, ranging from India, Korea, Australia and Norway to his time as the General Manager responsible for NWL’s Operations in Ireland. Since July 2015, when he assumed the role of Head of Wholesale Services, he has been responsible for NWL’s wholesale operations and market preparations and led NWL’s functional engagement with the market. He joined the Panel in 2019 and is an active participant at the User Forum and Trading Disputes Committee.

Ian is Head of the Wholesale Market Unit and responsible for Water and Wastewater transformation within Severn Trent Water (STW). He led Severn Trent Group’s readiness for the non-household retail market as Programme Director, including wholesale business readiness and non-household (business) retail separation activity. He was also a member of the MOSL WRG group during market opening. His 20 year career includes roles in transformation, commercial management, operations/ supply chain, corporate venturing and innovation. He has also delivered strategic corporate projects including M&A, and worked in Severn Trent’s international business as a member of the Executive Team. He holds degrees in Law along with an MBA. Ian joined the Panel in 2019.

Mike is a member of the CCWater’s executive team and directs their policy development and consumer research. Mike spent the first part of his career at the Met Office, during which time he completed his PhD while working with weather and climate models. Mike has over twelve years of experience in the water sector. Prior to joining CCWater in 2017, Mike worked at Ofwat as its first head of climate change policy and Severn Trent as business lead for asset strategy.
