MOSL today published it 2020/21 Business Plan, following approval from its members at a General Meeting in London.

The Business Plan sets out MOSL’s main priorities for the coming year under the theme ‘easier to do business’ and the budget required to deliver it.

In the lead up to today’s General Meeting, MOSL consulted closely with its members and key stakeholders on the themes and proposed activities within the plan. The five key themes include:

  • Service Excellence
  • Market Assurance
  • Market Improvement
  • Governance
  • Building Capability

These outline our commitments to the market in 2020/21 to improve on the services we offer to our members and includes a strategic review of meter reading – which was highlighted as a consistent and underlying market issue at MOSL’s CEO Forum held in November 2019.

The total market operator budget for 2020/21 is £11.2m. This has been reduced from £11.5m following strong challenge from members during the consultation period and represents an overall 4.7 per cent increase on our 2019/20 budget. Call out areas of the budget include the £1m change budget, which is consistent with that in 2019/20 and a commitment to a more focused and targeted market audit of £250k, marking a 50 per cent reduction on last year’s audit cost. Following feedback from our members, and as a result of ongoing business planning activity, we made the decision not to include the indicative cost of a bilaterals solution in the final plan.

I have been honest in my reflection of what is needed to make this market work for customers, and I am delighted that we received broad support for our 2020/21 Business Plan to drive this work forward.

Significant improvement in these priority areas cannot be achieved by MOSL alone and I look forward to working with our members and stakeholders throughout the course of 2020/21 and beyond, as we work to deliver a market that is ‘easier to business’ and one that delivers on its commitments to customers.”
