Under the Operational Terms, Wholesalers may allow certain works to be carried out by an accredited entity if the wholesaler subscribes to an accreditation scheme. The works allowed by the codes to be carried out by Accredited Entities are detailed in WRC Part 3 and fall under Parts B (Metering) and I (Disconnections) however Wholesalers will publish if they subscribe to any accreditation schemes on their websites. Section F of the Introduction and summary of the operational terms provide some guidelines around the use of accredited entities.
A national accreditation scheme has been launched which is administered by Lloyds Register known as Water Industry Registration Scheme Accredited Entity (WIRSAE). Wholesalers can sign up to this scheme to allow works to be carried out on their assets. Wholesalers may also choose which works they have signed up to e.g. only temporary disconnections and not permanent disconnections. The list of Wholesalers that have signed up to the scheme can be found on the Lloyds website, this also indicates which works they will allow. Retailers or third parties who undergo the accreditation according to Wholesaler area and scope will be also be listed here.
