Meters can be removed either when a supply point is permanently disconnected/deregistered or if a customer wishes to change to an unmetered tariff.

If a removed meter is associated with an existing meter network, then all association will be removed prior to the final meter read.

Customer touchpoint

A removed meter will either be related to a supply point being permanently disconnected from the network or will signal a shift from being based on volumes to one based on measurements. In this instance, a customer may have requested a disconnection.

Obligations under the market codes

Wholesalers are responsible for the removal of meters. The process is set out in Section 14 of CSD 0104 (Maintain SPID data).

Wholesalers are also responsible for updating CMOS with a final meter read as set out in CSD 0202 (Meter read submission: process).
