A meter is exchanged when it no longer meets the quality standards of the relevant wholesaler. Retailers can identify the issue, or be informed of it, and request that the wholesaler exchange it.

Customer touchpoint

A meter exchange may require access to the customer’s property by the wholesaler or accredited entity.

Obligations under the market codes

It is the responsibility of the wholesaler to update CMOS, the process by which they do this is set out in CSD 0104 (Maintain SPID data).

The retailer can request for a meter to be exchanged and can make a further request for the work to be done by an accredited entity.

The relevant forms for these requests are B/01: 'Metering activity carried out by the wholesaler' and B/02: 'Metering activity carried out by an accredited entity'.
