When a new customer moves into a premises their non-household customer data must be updated.

This includes their non-household customer name, customer banner, customer classification (for example identifying whether they are a sensitive customer, i.e. a school, hospital or prison), along with the Standard Industrial Classification code (SIC Code).

Customer touchpoint

A new customer moving into a premises is required to update their retailer with the relevant information, so that the retailer can open a new account under their name.

Obligations under the codes

The water retailer is responsible for updating the core customer data where a premises has both water and sewerage supply points, any updates submitted by the sewerage retailer will not be accepted by CMOS. This is described in more detail in CSD 0104 (Maintain SPID data).
