Circumstance

When either a wholesaler or a retailer becomes aware of a change in occupancy of a premises in the market.

For example, there is no longer any physical occupant aside from security and all stock and furniture has been removed from the premises.

Customer touchpoint

The premises has either become vacant or newly occupied, meaning an individual has moved into a property and should be registered as a new customer or the premises has been left vacant.

Obligations under the codes

Water retailers are responsible for updating the occupancy status of the premises in CMOS. This is described in greater detail in CSD 0104 (Maintaining SPID data).

If a wholesaler or sewerage retailer identifies that the occupancy status of a premises as incorrect, they can pursue a Vacancy Change Application set out in CSD 0105 (Error rectification and retrospective amendments).
